Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary healthcare system that combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The Naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of illness, imbalance or disease.
Appointments with our Naturopathic Doctors range from 30 to 75 minutes; this time is needed to fully investigate health concerns through verbal discussion, physical examination and specific testing. Naturopathic treatment is tailored to each individual patient’s needs, goals and desires, and can include diet and lifestyle counselling, botanical medicine, Natural Health Products, homeopathy, nutrition, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, Intravenous Therapy and the use of certain pharmaceutical medications
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an eastern system of medicine which works to balance the energy flow, or Qi, in the body. This is achieved through acupuncture, acupressure, diet, massage, herbs and nutritional therapy. Acupuncture can also be applied locally for musculoskeletal concerns.
The amazing Queenly Lee is the licensed TCM and acupuncture provider at Flourish and she in addition our team of Naturopathic Doctors often utilize TCM and acupuncture as part of their individualized health plans for patients.
Acupuncture pre and post ovulation is a foundation of our fertility healthcare plans and we also provide onsite acupuncture at fertility clinics for pre and post IVF transfer.
Other conditions often treated with acupuncture at Flourish are anxiety, sleep disorders, menstrual disorders and symptoms associated with menopause.
In addition to one on one acupuncture treatments we also offer community acupuncture for patients who are already on an acupuncture protocol at Flourish. Community acupuncture involves a small group of patients receiving their acupuncture treatment in a communal room at a lower visit cost than private acupuncture session.
At times everyone needs someone to talk to, without judgment, without attitude, with open arms. Talk therapy is a supportive and collaborative process where patients are assisted in dealing with aspects of their life that may be causing them turmoil, discomfort, stress, worry, fear, anger, and/or confusion.
Therapy provides the patient with a safe supportive place where they can explore these deep personal issues without fear of judgement. Talk therapy can help patients to identify coping strategies that are no longer working and offer new and effective ways of dealing with problems. Therapy can also provide valuable feedback regarding the interpretation and understanding of personal life experiences, helping patients to achieve new insights into themselves and their relationships. Therapy can be used at any time, for whatever reason, big or small. It is a vehicle of insight, change, prevention and life enhancement.
At Flourish our therapist Laura Reisman offers individual and couples counselling.
IV therapy, often referred to as intravenous vitamin mineral therapy, offers the unique ability to replenish the body’s micronutrients when the limitations of oral supplementation and diet cannot achieve a therapeutic dose. For many reasons such as environmental toxicity, chronic stress, increased metabolic demand, or a decreased ability to absorb nutrients from the digestive tract, the body can require higher doses of nutrients than can be delivered by mouth.
Infusions are individualized to each patient and can include micronutrients such as vitamins, botanicals and amino acids. Most treatments last 30-60 minutes and are offered weekly for 6-12 weeks. Treatments are performed in the comfort of our IV suite or in one of our private treatment rooms.
WHAT CAN IV THERAPY TREAT?
IV therapy treatments can be used for a variety of concerns. Your Naturopathic doctor will determine your individual combination of nutrients to be administered. The most common concerns addressed with IV therapy at Flourish include:
Acute colds and viral illness
Immune system support
Male and female infertility
Fatigue and burnout
Inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, and colitis
PMS and menstrual cramps

Registered Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario and is a highly effective therapy for a variety of conditions and general wellness promotion.
Massage therapy enhances joint function, improves circulation, increases metabolism and promotes the overall healing process. It is effective for many conditions in which body relaxation and the reduction of swelling and muscle mobilization are required. Massage therapy helps to bring relief from the stresses of everyday living and injury.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Pelvic floor physiotherapy involves all concerns relating to a person’s pelvic health. The pelvic floor muscle group is responsible for a variety of functions. These muscles support the pelvic organs, assist in bowel and bladder control and contribute to sexual arousal and orgasm.
A person may be referred to a pelvic floor physiotherapist to treat incontinence, difficulty with urination or bowel movements, constipation, chronic pelvic pain or painful intercourse.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is an essential component of a women’s pregnancy and postpartum health care plan.
Infant Craniosacral Therapy
At Flourish our Naturopathic Lactation Consultant and our Registered Massage Therapist offer Infant Craniosacral Therapy. Craniosacral Therapy is particularly helpful in treating newborns and infants, espeically when it comes to difficulty in feeding.
Difficulty nursing can be a result of tensions and restrictions in the baby’s head, spine or body. These restrictions can be caused by pressures experienced during late pregnancy, and by the forces of birth.
Symptoms/ Conditions that can be helped with CST:
difficulty nursing /latching challenges, restricted jaw opening, jaw clamping, weak suck action, difficulty swallowing, on/off fussing, excessive spit-ups (reflux), one-sided feeding challenges (head turns more easily in one direction), crossed or wandering eyes, asymmetrical head ect
