Dr. Melissa Descoteaux
Naturopathic Doctor & IV Therapy
Dr. Melissa, ND is passionate about empowering her patients to take control of their health. She likes to bring things back to basics with treatment plans focusing on clinical nutrition and optimizing daily habits to help you feel your best. Once the base for good health is built, through diet and lifestyle, other treatments can be added for further benefit, such as herbal medicine and supplements, acupuncture, IV nutrient and vitamin injection therapy. She has a general practice but tends to focus on optimizing energy levels, stress and weight management and skin health. Encouraging men’s health throughout the fertility process and after, along with postpartum care for both partners is also part of her practice.
Dr. Melissa, ND received her Honours Bachelor of Science with specialization in biochemistry from the University of Ottawa. She then completed a certificate in population health with the intent of pursuing a career in epidemiology. During this time, due to her own health concerns, Melissa saw a naturopathic doctor in Ottawa and discovered the world of complementary and holistic medicine. This sparked an interest in personalized medicine and shifted her career path towards naturopathic medicine. Soon after she completed a 4 year doctorate degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto (one of 2 accredited Naturopathic colleges in Canada). Dr. Melissa completed further education in IV and nutrient therapy as well as prescription of therapeutics. She is currently registered and licensed to practice in Ontario under the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and a member of the Canadian and Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
Things I love
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys staying active and experimenting with healthy baking recipes. Growing up as a competitive dancer, movement was a big part of her life which transitioned into vinyasa yoga in university. Currently she enjoys running and any fitness class she can find.
